Ark: Survival Evolved is a pretty solid game even under the "early access survival" branch that of which usually consists of horrid "games" comparable to various different eldritch horrors. The game has a seemingly endless amount of content due to the sheer amount of ways you can do the same thing differently many, many, many times in succession. The devs also roll out updates quite frequently, which leaves a good impact on the community since most indie devs that work on "insert gimmicky unfinished early access survival game here" leave their projects behind at a crucial point in their development.
Pros:
-Can build practically anything; limited only to a fairly distant skybox and invisible walls outside the map.
-If you can see it, you can tame it. Aside from a few brainless mobs that wouldn't have purpose anyhow.
-Slav Simulator. Cheeki breeki iv damke.
-Make friends with smelly, downright putrid African foot-lickers.
-Slaughter smelly, downright putrid African foot-lickers.
-Ridiculous character creation. If you've ever wanted to look like a synthol addicted Donald Trump, you sure as hell can.
-Bugs are patched quickly. When I started playing there was a ragdoll glitch that turned dead bodies into astronauts. It was also quite enjoyable though because they'd sometimes stretch out and fill parts of the sky. This was fixed, but I just wanted to share that type of thing with any new players lurking the reviews.
-Big ol' doggos.
-Occasional homoeroticism.
Cons:
-Have fun getting raided daily unless you're friends with everyone. Good luck learning to communicate with your Russian neighbors that moved in while you were asleep, comrade.
-"It's a PvP server. KOS is reasonable."
-Doing ANYTHING in this game on an official server will take you weeks. The game is much more enjoyable on an unofficial server where the settings are changed by an admin. On the contrary, the one time I played on an official server was probably one of the best times I've had playing ARK, but everything happens (literally) at a snail's pace.
-Bigger tribes can and WILL rule a server.
-Not many people on PvE. Those servers practically have you playing solo.
-???? optimization, though this will probably change in the future.
If you like building, surviving, male bonding, IRL pokemon simulator, and ÒÎÂÀÐÈÙÈ ÐÓÑÑÊÈÅ, then this is the game for you. If none of that interests you, look elsewhere.
