The Crew Review
This review will contain some stuff i love, like, dislike and hate about The CrewPrepare yourself--- Things I LOVE - The MapThe best map I have EVER seen in a racing game, and not the biggest, but the most diverse map I have EVER played on. It's that good. It would take a large amount of hours to completely explore the map. I still haven't completely expored it in my many hour playtime. It takes about an hour (if you are going very fast) tho get from one side of the map to the other. It just such a fun map to drive around, to take a road trip, and to see all kinds of fabulous landmarks throughput your journeys.-Everything about the carsAll the cars have lots of detal, interior and exterior. They are all different to drive, and unique in their own ways. Also, all the sounds for the cars are the legit real life sounds, recorded from the cars in a sound studion. SO nice.--- Things I like -Customization of carThe customization is quite good, especially compared to most of the recent need for speed games. The only problem is the customizations seem too concrete, there is no ability to add your own imagination or personal touch. Some stickers have different colors, but you can't change the color of a specific sticker. Also, each sticker goes on a certain, unchangable place on the car. You can make your car different than others, because there a large number of aesthetic parts and stickers.-Car specsI really like how the car can utilize many different utilities by changing the spec. There are 5 specs: Street, Dirt, Performance, Raid, and Circuit. They are all fun to experiment with. Some are great for the racetrack, while others are great for offroad trails. My only gripe about specs is that very few cars have the full 5 specs, most have 1-3 of the the specs. The starter cars all have the full 5 specs, so you will be able to have them all in at least one car.-The storyIt is surprising for a good story to be in a racing game, but in this case that surprise came true. It may seem cheesy and cliche to some people, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. -The graphicsThey aren't amazing by any means, but they are good. They capture american geography well (with a few minor hiccups) but there are many current racing games that have better graphics. They are definitely not bad though, they still make the game nice looking. The best graphics in the game are seen in some of the cutscenes. Legitimate movie quality cutscences.--- Things i dont like -The "mmo" aspect of the gameOnly 8 players in your session, and they players continually switch to different players, so, yeah, no. I still don't really know how to play with my friends, because there is no server choice, just places you in one.-Not that many carsThere really should be more.-Customization of your characterNonexistent. Hopefully you are okay with the way you look, cuz you can't change that.--- Things I HATE -ubisoft-uplay-ubisoft support-uplay servers-ubisoft bugs-uplay bugs-ubisoft glitches-uplay glitches-ubisoft in general-uplay in generalFortunately, ubisoft only published this game not developed, so it isn't UNPLAYABLE (i.e. ACU) a good company called Ivory Tower made it, which was responsible for some other open world maps (i.e. GTA 4)The following is a reddit rant that i put onto /r/The_Crew/There is one thing that i just can't get past about this game: THE MIRRORS DON'T WORK! I mean SERIOUSLY!!!!! WHY?!?!??! test drive unlimted from THE 80'S has working mirrors. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/xSvpmi79ZXY/0.jpg <---FREAKING 8 BIT MIRRORS! and the crew doesn't. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH3 reasons why the crew doesn't have mirrors1. ...2. ...3. ...Don't get me wrong I love the game but.....I JUST CAN'T GET PAST THATOk thanks for reading all that. I'm done now. Wait wait wait i haven't said my rating yet.8/10Overall great game, beautiful map, beautiful cars, just some problems that need addressing. My rating is subject to go up if those improvements are made.Happy driving!
